Position Title: Elementary Teacher

Job Summary: 

Teachers at Rivertree Academy provide biblically-based, inspiring instruction that establishes a joyful learning environment, maximizes individual student achievement, and engages children to help them develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically, morally, and spiritually.

EDUCATIONAL EXCELLEVE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but other duties may be assigned.

EXPECTED SKILLS

  • Use differentiated instruction and student-centered teaching methods that meet the needs of individual students in a vigorous, literacy-rich learning environment.

  • Implement powerful strategies, activities, and techniques for raising student achievement and promoting loving relationships and positive social behaviors. 

  • Prepare scope and sequence for courses and deliver lesson plans that include learning goals and objectives derived from curriculum standards that meet or exceed those defined by the Common Core, the State of Texas, and the school’s accrediting body. 

  • Provide pre-assessment, ongoing assessment, and summative assessments of individual learning to inform each student’s instructional plan. 

  • Record and reflect on results and provide timely feedback for assessments of learning. 

  • Establish clear expectations for standards of conduct and provide consistent training to help students develop habits of mind that are positive and productive. 

  • Maintain a safe, orderly environment at all times. 

  • Counsel students when adjustment and academic problems arise. 

  • Engage in positive, constructive communication with parents regarding students' growth and development.

  • Keep attendance and grade records as required by the school. 

  • Proactively utilize email, phone calls, online portals, and personal conferences to keep students, parents and the administration adequately informed of student progress. 

  • Work cooperatively with other team members to coordinate learning excursions. 

  • Lead students on nature walks that include observation and reflection. 


  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff and administration.

  • Attendance/Punctuality - Consistently be at work and on time. Prepare thorough lesson plans and sub instructions for days absent from work. Arrive at meetings and appointments on time. Attend and participate in scheduled devotions, staff development sessions, and after school meetings as set by the administration.

  • Use time appropriately and wisely. Follow instructions and respond to management direction. Follow through with responsibilities and communicate progress.

  • Manage difficult or emotional family situations with compassion and grace. Respond promptly to student or family needs. Solicit feedback to improve communication and service. Respond to requests for service and assistance. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university is preferred 

  • State Teacher (Standard or Alternative) or ACSI Certification is preferred; otherwise, certification must be completed within a 2-year period.

EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate will have at least two years of related teaching experience
